The Grand Canyon or The Canyon to people who have travelled through its depths is two hundred and seventy seven miles long and twenty miles wide at its widest.
There are any number of ways to see the Canyon Sit on the South rim, fly over it, hike its rim and trails or my favourite way Raft the mighty Colorado river, This I did in June 2001 this year.
Two raft the river you can either sign up for a permit from the National Parks service and then wait up to eleven years before you can get in the river or do as I did sign up with one of the licensed outfitters.

I signed up with Canyon Explorations in Flagstaff Arizona, a small family run firm specialising in Oar raft based trips lasting on average 15 days. Trips normally consist of five oar boats and a paddle boat.
